Since 2013, the Organization of Philellins at the University organizes a summer program at the American College of Greece in Athens (DEREE College). Students from Boston University and other universities attend courses in the new Greek language, ancient Greek, Greek history, and history of Athenian art by professors of the University and the American College.
Students visit historical and cultural sites.
Their courses help them to get to know both Greece and Hellenism in their modern and historical context. The summer program “Friends of Boston University” has sent over 100 students to Greece in the last six years and all have received scholarships. These are the future ambassadors of our country abroad. The organization also cooperates with the Center for Greek Studies at Harvard University in Nafplio.
In 2018 the “National Herald” dedicated the March issue of “Woman” to Mrs. Polychroniou. In that tribute he stated among other things: “Everything starts with the language and everything is built on it. The Greek culture that represents the history of the Greeks, our values and beliefs, are promoted in our program and encourage students from anywhere, to feel Greek by loving Greek culture and its values”.
Its efforts are completely dedicated to the promotion of the Greek language and the production of Philellinon.
With its momentum, the renowned University of Boston has managed to achieve its goal in full.
Her valuable work is recognized and rewarded.
